Common questions
How accurate is the 20-minute rapid HIV test?
Our 4th-generation rapid test detects both HIV antibodies and the p24 antigen, with over 99% sensitivity and specificity once you are past the window period. The window period is typically 18 to 45 days from exposure. If you test sooner, we may recommend a follow-up test to be sure.
Is HIV testing here confidential?
Yes. Results go to you only, through the channel you choose. We do not share HIV status with employers, family, or insurers without your written consent. You can ask for testing under a separate clinic ID if you prefer.
What happens if my test result is reactive?
We sit with you, explain what the result means, and arrange a confirmatory test the same week. If HIV is confirmed, you can start treatment with our team straight away. Modern antiretroviral therapy is one pill a day, and people living with HIV on effective treatment cannot transmit the virus to their partners (U=U).
How often should I test if I'm sexually active?
We suggest every 3 to 6 months for anyone with new or multiple partners, and at least once a year for everyone else. PrEP users test every 3 months as part of routine monitoring.
